We had a great trip leaving Saturday at 1am. We set up at the Baltimore 100F line at 4am and it was blowing 25 knots, seas 6-8 feet and rocking, weather man blew it again, so much for 10 knots or less. Drift was to the southeast at 2.5-3.0 knots. We had lots of weights to get the bait into the chum slick. We had fresh snapper blues for bait and some frozen Skippies left over from last season. Within a half hour we had our first Blue shark, he was about 150 lbs and released. So started our steady pick of blues sharks about 1 every half hour. A total of 6, all fat ones from 150-180 lbs and all released with complimentary lip jewelry. At 8am had another bite and a nice mako was at the boat, took another run and gaffed in less than 15 mintes. He hit a skippie fillet. We never got him on a scale, it’s so early in he season the marina doesn’t have the scales set up yet! Looks about 125? We switched to the tuna troll and picked up a 40 lb yellowfin within 45 minutes on a Fish Finder tackle skirt and ballyhoo.See our Restless Lady Tacklebox to view a selection of the lures we’re pulling. The tuna bite was slow and headed in at 11am. The rest of the boats were catching(slow pick) tuna and a few Mahi up and down the 100 line from the north Baltimore to the Wash.
Out again next weekend Friday-Monday. Fishing is looking good so far, keep an eye on the weather and come join us.
Thanks from the Restless Lady
